The packaging for the new GDragon mini album is amazing!
This came to my apartment in a long black YG Entertainment box. The reason it’s so long is because there are two posters inside! One is an enlarged image of the picture of GDragon and the white guys and the dogs. The other is a smaller solo picture of GD wearing a lot of eye makeup and a captain’s hat. (Dandy!)
The album itself looks like an antique book and has some nice faux embossing on the front. I ordered the bronze version which has a beautiful antique print of animals and ships. There is even a unicorn! As you can see in the picture, the edges of the front cover have a nice gold (plastic) edge cover, just like a real old dusty tome might have. The plastic wrapping has a small red ‘must be 19 or older to buy’ sticker on it.
Inside are eight thick poster stock album-size cards of the One of a Kind promotional pictures. A couple of them look new. I really like the astronaut one. It’s funny.^^ There’s also a YG card (just has ‘GD’ on it- boring) and a boring pullout with the track information. Nothing special but the paper they used is very smooth and soft. I keep rubbing it on my cheeks. Best paper ever. This all fits neatly inside on top of the CD and stays in place by popping in a white cardboard picture frame decorated with bronze ‘G’s scrolls and vines. If you take out the disc, there’s a high-contrast b&w print of vampire GDragon in front of the same animal pattern used on the cover.
I give the album packaging an A+ slash 10/10 because it looks like a book and I like things that look vintage.
There are Bible verses on the back of each card. I wasn’t aware that GDragon was particularly religious and I think this must be something he had to do to look good because people are still mad that he smoked like one gram of weed one time in another country. That or Taeyang has been dragging him to his church and Mannam volunteer events ‘these days’ to save his mortal soul.
I haven’t actually listened to the album yet but the packaging alone was worth the 18,000 won. That’s the only reason I buy albums here. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard the entirety of the album since every store I’ve walked by has played some of it since the release of the digital album a few days before.
