I have a date tonight! I am pretty excited because we have a lot in common and he seems like the kind of person I would be really good friends with, even if there was nothing romantic at all. 

I was supposed to go out with a guy on Wednesday. He was always really late to respond despite him sending me a ton of messages literally begging me to answer him and go out with him in the beginning. He never answered my message asking what time we should meet so I just never wrote back. Haven’t heard from him since. I knew this would happen so I made alternate plans the morning before. I went out with a friend, made a new friend, and only got charged for half the drinks we consumed. Honestly, that sounds a million times more fun to me than any date would have been. 

Oh, and if anyone would like to hear a nice Korean dating story, since I haven’t really had any good experiences in the last 8 months, you’ll enjoy this. A girl who I just met told us this story. She’s only been here a week and this happened to her friend from EPIK orientation. Her friend who is half black (may or may not be relevant to the story) was walking down the street near her home after work when a group of old Korean men started yelling obscenities (possibly race-related, maybe just general foreigner woman-related) at her and throwing what she said was dirty water at her body. (She thought one of them might have urinated in the water.) Obviously, this was a very traumatic experience and she didn’t know what to do and just stood in shock. Then, out of nowhere, a very handsome, tall young Korean man ran over, yelled at the old men, and took her by the arm and led her away. He gave her his jacket or sweater since her shirt was really wet and took her to a coffee shop where he bought her a drink and comforted to her. He asked her out a few days ago and they had a great time riding around Seoul on his motorbike and they are going to go out again. Isn’t that just like something out of a Korean drama?! Ugh, she’s only been in Korea a week! Nothing like that has happened to me in 2+ years!^^ I hope I get lucky soon! (minus the whole part with the old men and the water…)
