Y’all need to get over the fact that EatYourKimchi is asking for donations so they can get visas and a studio so they can keep producing their videos. If you don’t like them, don’t give them money. Don’t watch their videos. Don’t whine about them.

They saved up tens of thousands of their own money but still need more to reach their professional goal. Are they entitled in asking for donations? Should the money they receive be given to starving people or hurricane victims? OK, then, why don’t you donate your next paycheck or your computer or the money you would have spent on your morning coffee or new shoes to someone who needs it more? Why not spend the amount of time it would take to read and draft angry responses to their donation page and help people who need help, rather than chastising them for not helping people in need? Judge not, lest ye be judged. Judge not, lest ye realize you are kind of being a hypocrite. People can do whatever they want with their money. This is not some novel or radical idea. Filmmakers and artists ask for donations all the time. This is common. This is standard. This is not some new, strange thing.

PS. They do much more than make Kpop-related videos. I definitely remember watching a video that they made about what to pack for Korea, and it featured such helpful information as packing 3 bottles or ranch dressing into your suitcases. But, seriously, they make videos about other stuff, too. Or so I’ve read.

PS I find them as annoying as the rest of you. FYI.

This post is directed at the entire internet and not one or a few specific people. I’ve read a million posts (okay, maybe 50) about this thing on several different sites and they’ve all run together in my mind.

Opinion out.
