Going out to a bar Sunday night in central PA
Being forced to listen to Skrillex and country music. Potentially offending the bartender who overheard us saying we can’t stand Skrillex (“Skrillex is the future of music!” he retaliated. I hope not.)
Going to Sheetz to get something MTO and being hit on by a shaved-head hooligan screaming out his car window “Hey baby! My boy! My boy want your number!” (Dude,...

Why are Korean dramas soooooo slowwwwwww????
Watching the first episode of Coffee Prince. I want to like it, I really do. I like the main character. I like the idea, I think, except…it’s 40 minutes in and NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET. Seriously, I could squish the whole plot so far into 15-20…
I watched Coffee Prince a few years ago and also thought the video quality was...

Apparently I live in 'Over There'
“How do you like it Over There?”
“How are things Over There?”
“What do you eat Over There?”
Interesting. Then again I guess that, since being in Korea, I’ve started referring to America as ‘Back Home.’
Going out to meet one of my oldest friends tonight! I’m glad she still lives in our town. I’m still not sure how I ended up...

$$$
I am pretty sure that if I was living in America right now I would have a discount shopping blog. I love talking about how much money I save. It makes me feel like I’m beating ‘the man.’ Even though I am pretty much a retail slave to ‘the man.’
I hit up the outlets near my house today and got so many amazing deals! First of all, I found a perfect pair of jeans....
I am a busy bumblebee
Today’s plan is to go to the DMV, H&R Block, my grandmother’s place, and the outlets near my house. I am so busy! And actually, this will be my first time really going outside in America, besides stopping in at Sheetz on the way to my other grandparents’ house. I’ve spent all my time inside houses so far. Which is not so bad at all! But I’ve been pretty busy at...
I'm home!
What can I say about the trip back? Well, even though it took exactly 22 hours from when I left my house in Korea to when I got to my house in America, the time went by pretty quickly. Despite my luggage getting on the wrong plane from Chicago to Philly and then me having to wait another hour before I could leave PHL (it was okay, though, because I still caught my Amtrak train home.)
I flew...

Seoul -> Home
7:45- Leave House
8:00- Airport Bus at Cheongnyangni
11:00- Flight leaves Seoul
13 hours later- Flight lands in Chicago; 2 hour layover
17 hours later- Arrive in Philly
20 hours later- Board Amtrak from 30th Street Station (one of my least favorite places in the world)
21.5 hours later- HOME!
(In case you didn’t do the math, it is going to take me more than 24 full hours to go from...

Last Night Out in Seoul
was a success. Got home at 6:30 AM and didn’t even feel tired.
If you are wondering what a ‘typical’ night out in Seoul is like, it involves a lot of drinking, eating, and hopping around from place to place. And most clubs and bars and the restaurants surrounding them are open all night long, which is awesome. I started out with four of my friends at a barbecue place in...
Lunar New Year is in two days
So many Spam gift box sets on the subway
English Camp is Done!
I feel so elated. The concert went pretty well, and we just ate pizza and snacks afterward. My students had a lot of questions for me about America; some that I could answer (“Where do you live?” [I’ve told them this at least twice]) and some that I could not answer (“What’s the best place in America?”) My co-worker really had to drag the English questions out...

Anyone know of any blogs or resources for EPIK...
An old friend of mine since ninth grade just got placed in Gangwon-do and wanted me to pass on some information about the area for him. Unfortunately, I’m as Seoul-centric as they come. Does anyone know of any good blogs or sites or social networking groups he could check out to learn more about his area and get answers to some of his questions? Thanks in advance!

I just met with Bus Guy, the very tall guy who started talking to me on my bus a few months ago. We had samgyeopsal and soju and then beer and a fried potato plate at a hof and then I told him I needed to go home because I was exhausted. The time was 7:40.
I think I’m tired because I’m stressed about my students’ final concert and my flight to America which will cause me in...

Puppies.
My friend and I picked up our visas for China yesterday (yay!) and ate at Jenny’s Bread (a really good sandwich and bread restaurant in a really difficult-to-find alley near Hongik U. and I have no idea how she found this place) and then went to a dog cafe! Not the Bauhaus cafe, but one I hadn’t heard of, Sunnyne, which was smaller and quieter and much better, in my opinion, because...

Daishi Dance @ Ellui Friday night
I may or may not go depending on what time the show starts. Does anyone know what time the DJs at Ellui usually go on? My flight is Saturday morning :_(
Or is this one of those closed events you needed to speak Korean and sign up for like a month ago to get in like the Jay Park and Leessang thing last month?

I wish I had pretty pert boobs so that I could experience the jjimjilbang. One thing I will not be crossing off my list. Boobs are a curse.
I don’t think you need to worry about that at all in Korea! 90% of the people in the jimjilbang are saggy older women anyway who look like they’ve nursed as many babies as there are members of Super Junior. Plus I don’t think...
I discovered the source of the strange loud...
I came home from work to find a brand new cabinet in my bathroom. My apartment’s storage space is like legendary status now.
Also I’m going to murder this stupid ajumma on the bus. The bus is packed and she refuses to move over and let anyone sit in the seat next to her. Hope she dies.
The guy sitting next to me just coughed and sneezed about twenty times. If I get sick for my...
I woke up almost an hour earlier than usual today even though I wanted to sleep in because there were really loud, echoing construction sounds coming from the floor above me. Including what sounded like a jackhammer. I tried to sleep through it for twenty minutes and gave up and got up and turned on my computer. Exactly three minutes later, the noises stopped. What a great way to start the day!...
